Rep. Juan Vargas' Statement on Immigration Day Executive Actions
Washington, DC (February 2, 2021) – Today, Rep. Juan Vargas (CA-51) released the following statement on President Biden’s immigration-related executive orders:
"I commend President Biden on making immigration one of his top priorities. Today's executive actions will help reunify families, help address the root causes of migration, and help restore faith in our legal immigration system.
"However, while President Biden's immigration executive orders are a step in the right direction, they are not enough. We need to work on passing legislation that will create a realistic path to citizenship for our most vulnerable populations, including 11 million undocumented Americans, DREAMers, individuals with Temporary Protected Status, farmworkers, and essential workers. I look forward to working with the President and my colleagues in Congress to help us get closer to the immigration reform our country needs."
Vargas represents California’s 51st Congressional District which includes the southern portion of San Diego County, all of Imperial County, and California’s entire U.S.-Mexico border. Vargas was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012 and is currently serving his fifth term in Congress.
